Who We Are

Hi! We’re Kristy and Jared. As husband and wife we share an immense love for our city. We are both 3rd generation born and raised NOLA Natives. Our heritage includes a mix of Sicilian, French, Isleños, Irish and a dash of English. A true part of the “gumbo” that makes New Orleanswell… New Orleans.

Our passion for New Orleans’ history, food, and culture runs through our veins and straight to our hearts. We love spending our time together immersing ourselves in all things NOLA .

  1. Ya”ll are doing such a GREAT job with this. Even those of us who have lived our entire lives in NOLA, are learning so many interesting facts about the city. The field of flowers remind me of the one at Versalles THIS IS. ONE PROUD MOM!!

  2. As a customer of Fidelity Homestead, I was given a 2015 calendar with the pictures taken by you. They are beautiful photos. I like to go around the City taking pictures also and take my camera with me when I go to
the plantations along the river. I use a Nikon camera, what are you using? If you do not mind, what software you use to edit your shots? I started taking pictures in high school for our yearbook, then got away from it and just started back and do it as a hobby. It is very enjoyable to get nice shots.

    • Thank you very much for the compliment. I use a Canon EOS Rebel SL1 with a 18-55 mm lens. When choosing the camera Nikon was in my top three, it is indeed a great camera. I already owned a Canon PowerShot SD780 IS and since the Rebel had similar setting controls, I selected the Canon SL1. I have been pleased with the quality of the photos, it is great at capturing detail, color and lighting.

For editing I use Photoshop CC 2014 & Adobe Lightroom for auto tone, contrast, and color correction, when needed. A monthly membership runs about $10 a month and is great for refining photos for professional prints. I have also used the editing software provided by Google+, which is free and perfect for photo touchups.

I am eager to get out to the nearby plantations and natural areas of Jean Lafitte National Historical Park. It is a wonderful hobby and one that truly allows you to appreciate one’s surroundings. I especially enjoy getting the shots that show a well known site- such as St.Louis Cathedral- from a uncommon angle. It is a joy to study these types of shots after a day of strolling around the city capturing them.

Thank you again for the compliment. I hope you continue to visit our site and continue with your photography as well.
