lighthouse 07 06

There has been a lighthouse on Lake Pontchartrain since 1837. In its history three different lighthouses stood on this site. The third structure survived storms & hurricanes for 115 years. It housed the U.S. Coast for roughly 40 of those years. During Hurricane Katrina in 2005 the lighthouse was severely damaged. After extensive renovations were completed to the lighthouse in 2013, the light now shines again to aid boaters on their journey home from a day out on the lake.
